Maniago,
the city of knives

Metalworking industry has grown in Maniago thanks to the ability to easily use water as a source of energy. Knife production started around 1435, but it is in the eighteenth century that we can find a strong specialization in the manufacturing of small and medium-sized sharp tools. This was a reaction to resist the economical crisis that swept through the italian region. The early twentieth century was crucial because of the choice of a german businessman to build the first 'real' factory. The production increased considerably and the district began to develop and reach the reputation that has continued to the present day. The district accounts for 50% of national knife production, providing higher quality products thanks to the use of special steels and numerical controlled machines. The district offers a large variety of products spanning several areas such as, domestic, professional, farming and gardening, industrial, leisure and sport.

Woody

Details make difference

Woody is a small revolution that transforms a professional tool into a product for domestic use.

The magnet as a support system for knives is something everyone knows, often used in the kitchens of professional chefs it is considered a practical and functional product. The Gesture of clasping and hanging a knife becomes extremely fast and intuitive and thus, in the case of intensive use, it becomes a solution that exceeds the capabilities of a traditional knife holder. The functional advantages of this product have never been elevated to a equal level of aesthetics in comparison to conventional knives holders, which are becoming items of furniture for the kitchen.

Mood Woody

With Woody Emo design turned a tool into a precious object, fitting seamlessly into any contemporary kitchen. The main problem that the design team faced was the strong presence of the magnet inside the object. It occupies a larger area, is flat and for reasons of cost needed to be cylindrical. Therefore the only possibility of intervention was on the frame of the magnet and on the execution of all details.

Magneti portacoltelli Del Ben

The main aim was to marry the magnet with the tradition of Del Ben production. Applying an oak ring to the backside greatly enriches the product and softens it aesthetically. Finally the logo Del Ben tampografied on the aluminum ring, further emphasizes the importance of perfect details.
