Maniago, the city of knives
Metalworking industry has grown in Maniago thanks to the ability to easily use water as a source of energy. Knife production started around 1435, but it is in the eighteenth century that we can find a strong specialization in the manufacturing of small and medium-sized sharp tools. This was a reaction to resist the economical crisis that swept through the italian region. The early twentieth century was crucial because of the choice of a german businessman to build the first 'real' factory. The production increased considerably and the district began to develop and reach the reputation that has continued to the present day. The district accounts for 50% of national knife production, providing higher quality products thanks to the use of special steels and numerical controlled machines. The district offers a large variety of products spanning several areas such as, domestic, professional, farming and gardening, industrial, leisure and sport.

“The stroke left by a pencil is like the mark left by the blade of a knife”
|
Simplicity, essence and purity are keywords of the Del Ben product language. These were balanced with care in the design of the new Onus knife holder, the first step in the collaboration between prestigious cutlery manufacturer Del Ben and Emo design. The brand Del Ben sticks to simple shapes with knives and blades that are the essence of their function. The Emo team has transferred this philosophy into a product that becomes a precious shell for exclusive knives, with a memorable shape dressed with elegance.
With Onus we reached a new meaning of luxury in the premium segment of knife holders. A refined luxury that doesn't shows off or scream but that is aimed at people who love the essence of design.

Onus is an evening suit for knifes, with a simple appearance but a precious feel throughout to merge seamlessly with the contemporary kitchen. Its design communicates strength and lightness at the same time thanks to a wide front body and a thin, slim profile. Both in form and color choices, Onus incorporates features and feelings from some of the most successful products of the contemporary design era.
Last but not least a touch of tradition that enriches the whole product comes from the visible wood on the top of the knife holder. |
