Jacuzzi

From Friuli to California, the story of the seven Jacuzzi brothers began in 1917 like many others, but it continues in an extraordinary way. From their pens and their hands came the design of pumps, propellers and even aeroplanes. In 1956, by chance, a prototype of the Jacuzzi hydromassage bath was introduced to the USA. This prototype was built to help one of Jacuzzi brothers with his rheumatoid arthritis; to cure it, his father converted a pump mechanism into a therapeutic device. In 1968 Roy Jacuzzi realised the potential of this invention and he gave it a definite shape, by designing the hydromassage system with nozzles integrated into the architecture of the bath, which is still today the basis for each new model. It was called the Roman Bath, as a tribute to the refined thermal culture of the ancient Romans.

Glam

The essence of simplicity

Glam is the upmost formal interpretation of wellness in the contract market. Continuous and smooth surfaces have been shaped to accommodate not only the needs of our body but also our eyes.

The residential contract market is characterized by business dynamics and technical requirements that appear to severely limit the design possibilities for an acrylic bathtub. Combining a low cost, ease of installation and a proper product language to achieve a desirable identity for the reference market, required an exploration of work in harmony with the R&D and trade departments of Jacuzzi.

The goal, from a product language point of view, was to marry different styles of furniture with the bathtub without losing its own personality and uniqueness. Glam is a contemporary tub with shapes that pay respect to the attractive cast iron bathtubs used in the past, but without becoming a retro interpretation. Instead, it is a mature minimalism, not reduced to a useless furnishing sculpture. It gets into the lives of people with courtesy and pleasantness. Glam represents the vanguard of wellness in a bathroom.
